Microsoft hat nach der Ankündigung eines Bitstream-Updates für die Wiedergabe von Dolby Atmos auf der Xbox One (S) noch einmal konkretisiert, wie genau dieses aussehen wird. Mike Ybarra von Microsofts Xbox-Team erklärte via Twitter, dass das Bitstream-Update Dolby Atmos sowohl für Videos als auch Spiele ermöglichen soll. Das eröffnet für Gamer interessante Möglichkeiten, nachdem bislang nur einzelne PC-Games mit Dolby Atmos-Sound erhältlich waren. Welche Xbox One-Spiele zukünftig Dolby Atmos unterstützen werden, ist noch nicht bekannt. Ybarra stellte zudem klar, dass das Bitstream-Update nicht nur für die neue Xbox One S mit Ultra HD Blu-ray-Player sondern auch die Xbox One kommen soll, auf der man dann Dolby Atmos zumindest mit Blu-ray Discs und Games erleben kann. Die Bitstream-Unterstützung plant Microsoft für Anfang 2017.
